Meta Biomedical Research Scientist - Health and Wellbeing in Burlingame, California

Summary:

The Meta Health and Wellbeing team is seeking a biomedical research scientist who will report to the Manager of Health and Wellbeing Research and work alongside other members at the Health and Wellbeing team, aimed at improving health outcomes throughout the world. The ideal candidate will have experience/expertise in biomedical sensors and physiological signals, in both development and validation. A successful candidate in this role is highly collaborative as well as self-driven, passionate, and able to execute consistently in a fast-paced environment. In this role, you will work in and closely with interdisciplinary teams to plan and execute research of novel digital approaches to measuring and improving health and wellness.

Required Skills:

Biomedical Research Scientist - Health and Wellbeing Responsibilities:

  1. Work with biomedical sensors and systems to collect and analyze physiological data (specifically, time series multimodal data) for characterizing health and wellness applications

  2. Develop and implement signal processing, data analysis, and data visualization using keen understanding of physiology, physical systems and statistics

  3. Develop methods and standard operating procedures involving lab instrumentation and prototype bring up for data collection in order to test features, algorithms or models.

  4. Uses a variety of advanced statistical software, methods, and techniques to gather, analyze, and interpret research data to derive useful information

  5. advises and assists in the development of inferences and conclusions, as appropriate.

  6. Design and execute studies with engineering test protocol and report to validate algorithms for biomedical applications

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  2. Master’s in biomedical engineering or equivalent

  3. 2+ years working in multidisciplinary research and/or product development teams

  4. Expertise in execution and reporting of results of digital health research projects

  5. Programming expertise to execute the above in Python, writing reusable and well-documented code, familiar with software development requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. A demonstrable understanding of human physiology and prior research experience in the field of health is highly desired

  2. Direct industrial experience in consumer/digital health and wellbeing product development and/or research, with demonstration of success working within and across multidisciplinary teams (e.g. project/product managers, software engineers, research scientists, machine learning data scientists).

  3. Experience in PyTorch, Numpy and Pandas.

  4. Experience in developing specialized software tools for biomedical measurement data.

  5. Familiar with data pipeline and data investigation

Public Compensation:

$143,000/year to $208,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
