Meta Counsel/Lead Counsel, Employment Law & Investigations- (Contingent Workforce) in Los Angeles, California

Summary:

Meta is seeking a talented attorney to join as a Counsel/Lead Counsel, Employment Law & Investigations - (GEWEL - Contingent Workforce) in our Employment Law & Investigations Team. This position will report to the Director & Associate General Counsel responsible for the global Contingent Workforce Program and will advise on various employment law-related issues related to Meta’s contingent workers. The successful candidate will provide legal advice and counsel, and manage claims/litigation on contingent workforce issues, with a focus on issues that arise in the NORAM region, with secondary support to the APAC region as needed. This attorney will provide legal support, help ensure compliance with and provide education on the Contingent Workforce Program and may support other areas of practice such as academic collaboration. Required Skills:

Counsel/Lead Counsel, Employment Law & Investigations- (Contingent Workforce) Responsibilities:

  1. Provide legal advice, counsel, and support support on contingent workforce related matters from an employment law perspective on a variety of substantive employment law areas, including use of supplemental labor from sourcing to separation, outsourcing and data, commercial contracts/statements of work, and joint-employer/co-employment liability

  2. Provide legal support to key partners regarding union/work council/organized labor issues as needed

  3. Partner with and support the Contingent Workforce team and Contingent Workforce Business Partners to advise, educate, and influence on a wide range of Contingent Workforce issues by identifying issues proactively based on discussions with clients and business partners

  4. Collaborate with cross-functional partners such as other attorneys and key stakeholders in the business on all legal issues impacting contingent workers at the Company, and provide guidance and support to ensure consistency and compliance

  5. Review, draft, revise contractual clauses in statements of work and service agreements

  6. Provide legal advice, counsel, and support to key partners on alternative work arrangements as needed

  7. Monitor legislation, regulations, case law, and government enforcement activities relating to the above substantive legal areas, and provide proactive, strategic advice to the Global Employment Law Group and relevant stakeholders

  8. Support audits, process reviews, and new policy creation and implementation related to the Contingent Workforce Program, academic collaborations, and alternative work arrangements

  9. Draft and review contingent workforce program related documents, policies, and processes

  10. Support management of outside counsel retained to handle administrative charges or lawsuits filed against the Company

  11. Facilitate process improvements, create efficiencies, and provide trainings as necessary

  12. Travel throughout the US and possibly internationally as needed

  13. Flexibility and willing to work extended hours when necessary to connect with colleagues in on the west coast and in the APAC region

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. J.D. degree and membership in at least one state bar

  2. 3+ years of experience in labor and employment law

  3. Experience providing legal advice and counsel on US and international contingent worker issues/matters

  4. Pre-litigation/litigation experience, including handling demand letters and administrative agency charges

  1. Prior experience advising on international employment issues and supporting clients outside the United States

  2. Prior in-house legal department experience

  3. Experience coordinating and driving to completion large-scale projects

Public Compensation:

$167,000/year to $233,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
