Meta Tax Technology Manager in Menlo Park, California

Summary:

The Tax Technology and Analytics Team is seeking an experienced manager to support our growing technology and transformation efforts. The processes covered in the transformation efforts include US income tax compliance, worldwide income tax provision, planning and all related calculations, reporting, and analytics. This role will support strategic planning for technology initiatives as well as being responsible for execution of initiatives. Meta tax team is currently working on a number of foundational and transformative projects centered around data. This is a unique opportunity to touch many different areas within income tax, utilize the tools of today and tomorrow, and collaborate with cross-functional teams across Meta.

Required Skills:

Tax Technology Manager Responsibilities:

  1. Engage in tax technology roadmap management, driving the team's long-term vision and objectives.

  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including tax, finance, and IT, to ensure alignment of tax technology solutions with business objectives.

  3. Work collaboratively with tax team members to understand needs, identify automation opportunities and collect business requirements.

  4. Design, build, and test tax models using data transformation tools and provide post-production maintenance and support.

  5. Develop and manage relationships with tax technology service providers.

  6. Lead and manage large transformation projects. Proactively communicate updates, anticipate potential issues and implement appropriate mitigations.

  7. Serve as a liaison between the Tax, Accounting, FP&A, and Enterprise Engineering departments improving the understanding of the tax department’s information technology needs.

  8. Work closely with the Enterprise Engineering group to create tax product requirements, coordinate testing and support change management.

  9. Implement, use and train others in data analytics tools and visualization tools.

  10. Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in tax, including artificial intelligence.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, data management, computer science, information technology or related discipline.

  2. 10+ years of experience in either public accounting or industry.

  3. Overall understanding of the US corporate income tax system with experiences in tax provision software (e.g., OneSource, CorpTax, etc.).

  4. Proven experience in communicating effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, service providers and cross-functional teams, at different levels.

  5. Experience with problem-solving issues without obvious answer

  6. Experience breaking down processes and identifying pain points to deliver operational and technical improvements.

  7. Proven experience for understand business requirements and convert those to a technical architecture.

  8. Experience with project management and planning. Familiarity with project management and document management software (e.g., Microsoft SharePoint and/or Google Suite).

  9. Proven experience with automating computations using self-service, low-code tools (e.g., Alteryx, Power Query)

  10. Experience with databases and data management.

  11. Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., SQL or Python).

  12. Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, ThoughtSpot).

  1. Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or experience as a Senior Manager working in both Big4 and industry tax technology roles.

  2. Leadership experience aligning project goals with finance and tax organization goals

  3. Exposure to internally built automation tools vs customization of off the shelf software.

  4. Experience with cloud-based tax technology solutions.

  5. Experience with generative AI or machine learning.

Public Compensation:

$142,000/year to $205,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
