RF Desense Engineer Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and develop new wireless systems for Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR).

  2. Work closely with product design, electrical, and firmware engineers on advancing the state of AR/VR through research and development, prototyping, and implementation in shipping products.

  3. Own RF desense system design from initial definition through production.

  4. Deliver high-performance RF desense design solutions and drive invention of innovative RF desense design to enable incredible experiences for future products.

  5. Provide guidance and leadership to RF desense design activities for internal and external teams.

  6. Utilize experience in RF desense concepts such as shielding and grounding using both empirical data and simulation to design and debug RF desense issues.

  7. Perform RF desense simulations such as nearfield/surface current simulation, Huygen box simulation, Eigenmode simulation and the end to end system simulation using 3D EM and circuit-level simulations.

  8. Characterize and debug RF conducted and radiated desense and EMI issues to meet wireless system requirements.

  9. Work with RF and antenna team, internal and external cross-functional teams to ensure meeting the specs at the component, board, and system level.

  10. Design and execute a test methodology for characterizing desense and wireless system performance with external partners and test houses.

  11. Support high performance wireless systems of the product through development, compliance qualification, and FATP.

  12. 15% international and domestic travel is required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Requires a Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Sciences, Physics, or a related field and 36 months of experience in the job offered or in an RF Desense design engineering position. 15% international and domestic travel is required. Requires 36 months of experience in the following:

    1. RF design with technical understanding of radio technologies, cellular, connectivity, GPS, NFC, etc.
    1. Drafting cellular and Wi-Fi RF desense hardware specifications for wireless products based on PRD and use cases
    1. Testing of cellular and WiFi RF components reference designs for compliance with wireless specification and standards
    1. Experience with PCB layout standard methodologies and guidelines for RF desense
    1. Experience debugging desense issues and characterizing the nature of aggressor/victim
    1. Applying the physics of radiated noise coupling mechanisms to solve complex RF desense problems
    1. Experience with electromagnetic simulation tools, including Keysight ADS, Ansys Electronics Desktop, and CST for RF desense design
    1. Over-the-Air (OTA) measurements using anechoic chambers and communication analyzers for cellular and Wi-Fi radios system testing and analysis
    1. Cellular and Wi-Fi RF hardware desense mitigation design, validation and troubleshooting, including PCB and form factor EMI design (RF grounding and shielding), RF noise profiling validation, cellular and Wi-Fi OTA sensitivity validation with interference source control, debugging RF hardware performance desense issues due to interferences from one radio to another, debugging RF hardware desense issues due to Interference from non-radio sub-systems like cameras, display and sensors, and providing solutions of hardware mitigation
    1. Defining and bringing up Cellular and Wi-Fi RF desense test stations in the factory, Failure analysis for RF desense issues in the factory
    1. Experience using call box, VNA, spectrum analyzer, signal generator for cellular and Wi-Fi RF performance measurement.

Public Compensation:

$263,282/year to $276,870/year + bonus + equity + benefits
