Meta Policy Communications Manager, Latin America in São Paulo, Brazil

Summary:

Meta is seeking an experienced Communications Manager to design and execute proactive and reactive communications across Latin America to demonstrate how the company is building responsible innovation. In this role, you will deal with a broad set of subjects from content to integrity, regulation and well-being, working hand in hand with different external and internal stakeholders.Candidates must have a deep understanding of technology issues and the social debate around digital platforms. Experience in media relations and the use of social channels, impeccable writing skills and a solid track-record of building successful communications campaigns are also required. This position is full-time and is preferably located in Sao Paulo, although Mexico City and Buenos Aires are also options.

Policy Communications Manager, Latin America Responsibilities:

  1. Manage data-driven and measurable proactive and reactive communications on relevant integrity topics across Latin America, both via media relations and social channels

  2. Coordinate the company’s response to high profile issues across Brazil, Mexico and Argentina, including media strategy, message development, and internal escalation

  3. Work cross-functionally and be an influential voice with internal stakeholders across Public Policy, Legal and Business, as well as the global Communications team

  4. Counsel internal stakeholders on a broad set of communications matters ranging from media engagement strategy to crisis management

  5. Distill complex policy concepts into plain language for press, policymakers, and the general public through a wide range of channels and materials, including written, video and social posts

  6. Design and lead communications campaigns in support of Meta's strategic objectives, linked to clear goals and metrics

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Politics, Social Sciences, Journalism or a related field, or equivalent experience

  2. Eight years professional experience, including working with press and social media on issues-rich topics in Latin America

  3. Outstanding communications skills in Spanish or Portuguese

  4. Strong writing and story-telling skills in English, and Portuguese and/or Spanish

  5. Ability to work in a fast-paced, pressurized, dynamic environment, with excellent judgment and negotiation skills

  6. Autonomy to work with different teams and drive complex conversations with senior management

  2. Ability to balance multiple competing priorities, with flexibility to pivot/reprioritize quickly as needs arise

  3. Strong team player skills, a must. Strong leadership, project management, time management and collaboration skills

  4. A self-starter able to proactively come up with new ideas, build plans and successfully execute them in partnership with other communications teams and partners

  5. Experience in public affairs, media or marketing industry
